     I'd like to start this post by saying that I am so sorry for the unannounced hiatus. I've been struggling a lot with my mental heath lately. With the turn of the season, my anxiety has pricked up and my depression has come out, and I find myself without the motivation or energy to do much of anything; even the things I used to take great pleasure in (including this blog). I want to start this week off a little more hopeful by writing a short article, and asking anyone who is feeling overwhelmed as Autumn starts and brings with it classes, new projects and responsibilities, to contact support if they find themselves overwhelmed. Thank you.

Now that I've exposed myself, let's perk up a little while I share 5 things I actually found really cool this week.

     We're coming up on another weekend, but before we do, I'm here to deliver your weekly dose of essential reads and inspiration.

My week has been...well, boring. I'm definitely stuck in a rut lately, and although I hope it doesn't show through the quality of my writing, I'm looking for a big change to spice up my life. Some options I'm checking into: a new diet, yoga classes, a completely new makeup look & wardrobe, and just getting out more from behind my computer screen. Spending time outdoors is a must.      The sun is finally out and my mood has been changing with the season. Does anyone else feel a lot more like themselves when the weather is sunny? I feel like my personality comes easier, like I don't have to try as hard to look nice and style my Instagram feed. I'm less unsure of myself as a person. Maybe winter is just the season of me trying to be something I'm not. Or maybe I just have a sunny disposition. Either way, spring is here and it is liberating.

Anyway, I've rounded up a fresh dose of cool things, and I'm serving them now. Check out the links below!

5 things I love:

1. I'm still loving all the new swimwear popping up, and colourful wetsuits always catch my eye. I love the Suka Wetsuit by Stone Fox Swim - the print is so fun.

2. I'm cultivating my earring collection at the moment. I want to have "nice" jewelry, not just sets from trendy teen shops that come on cardboard backing (not that there's anything wrong with that). I've already picked up some sweet little Michael Kors padlock earrings, but what do I have my eye on next? These dainty Baby Pearl Hoops from Catbird and the Lady Grey Multi Ring Hoops from UO.

3. I love chocolate, especially mousse. If you're like me, head over to Kate La Vie's blog to find a chocolate mousse with a twist: Vegan Chocolate Orange Mousse.

4. I loved Connie & Luna's Kyoto Green Tea Matcha Day Trip Itinerary. So magical! I would love to visit Kyoto one day.

     It's the first Friday of the new year! In my last 5 Things I Love post, I shared Lack Of Color's newest hat collection. I enjoyed switching things up a bit, so this week I'm combining my 5 Things I Love with a fantastic collection from a longtime favorite brand of mine.

5 Things I Love:

1. Viva Las Vegas! I adore For Love & Lemon's Winter Ready-to-Wear campaign. Clearly taking cues from Las Vegas and the 1960's, this collection is so fun and imaginative. I love when a photo shoot tells a story - this one even incorporates an Elvis impersonator and the famous Little White Chapel. I particularly love the Cosmo Mini Dress - so pink and frilly! 2. It's the time of year we're all changing our habits and considering new resolutions. A Considered Life wrote a great guide to adopting simple living resolutions. So many of the options are easy, and things you may not have thought of!

3. Not Jess Fashion took a magical Christmas trip to Colmar, France, and it is so colorful! See her travel guide here.

4. DesignLoveFest has rounded up 10 healthy Recipes and they look delicious! I'd love to make the chicken salad.

5. Urban Outfitters have released their Spring preview, and I adore the Inka Pleated Mini Skirt and matching Button-Front Blazer. Cher Horowitz would approve!

I've been changing the blog so much lately, and honestly I don't really know what I'm doing.      Today's 5 Things I Love post is a little special, because it marks a change in direction for Jackie O My.

Growing with me

I've been trying to think of the right words for this post. The outfits I wear on my blog are not things I wear in real life, for the most part. When I created Jackie O My, I envisioned this really bohemian vibe I wanted to portray. I've been trying to stick to this aesthetic, but if I'm being honest with myself, I've grown out of my boho phase. I've been limiting myself to this style that just isn't me anymore, and it makes it difficult to feel inspired to make posts here.

The real me wears t-shirts and loves 90's aesthetic. I'm not sure how many people want to see my regular clothes, but I'm giving it a try from now on. I feel like I need to make this space more like me, and hopefully those of you who read what I do here will understand.

     How has everyone's week been? New posts have been nowhere to be found on Jackie O My for a few weeks now; I've taken a break from writing to work on the behind-the-scenes part of blogging, including redesigning the site layout (which will be revealed later this week!) I've also been enjoying some beautiful weather here in British Columbia for a change, and it's put me in a sunny mood. I think it's reflected in this week's 5 Things I Love post, no? Anyway, here's some reading to start your week off right.

5 Things I Love:

1. Looking for a bit of home decor inspiration? Connie Cao of Connie & Luna has been sharing her lovely new home, and I love her sense of style. Check out her new bedroom here and her plant-filled reading corner here.

2. I've never even heard of pupusas before, but after seeing DesignLoveFest's colorful photography, I might just try her recipe (which sounds delicious, by the way).

*Edit: Unfortunately, the delicious pupusa recipe has been taken down, but Bri has us covered with an equally-delicious Chicken Salad, which is my favorite healthy-ish food.

3. Author Megan Nesmith wrote a totally relateable article for Man Repeller about dressing better to pull yourself out of a rut. This is one of my major goals in life lately, since I too have fallen into the sweatpants-and-old-jumper trap. I can whole-heartedly agree with Megan's assessment; I feel like a new person already after spending only 5 extra minutes to look decent every morning.

4. Niki of My Scandinavian Home shared this stunning bohemian home, and I can't get over it. The Topanga Canyon, California home belongs to Malia Grace Biachi-Mau, a jewelry maker with a keen sense of style.
