Totally just kidding, because I've never been on a road trip in my life. Far from snapping pictures in gorgeous, exotic locations, this photography adventure saw me taking photos in a drive-through and wondering if this is rock bottom, blogger-wise.
Remaining positive and confident in the fashion-blogging world is tricky. There's always someone (or thousands of someones) with better equipment, more talent, a better wardrobe...the list is endless. That's a lot to compare yourself to, and there are times I feel under constant pressure to step up my game. Sometimes more than possible.
It's useful to remind myself to take a step back and breathe. This is not a competition, and instead of envying other girls that find success with blogging, I should be applauding them and lifting them up. After all, they prove it's possible to follow your passions and find success with them, even if you start off with no experience. I received some helpful advice recently that I've been trying to internalize: Don't aim to be an expert, just aim to be better than you were.
What I'm wearing
My dress is by Kimchi Blue, from Urban Outfitters. My sunglasses are by Marc Jacobs. For this look, I wanted to do something colourful for the end of summer. I chose a road-trip rest stop theme so I could play up the colours from the burger stand behind me. It was fun playing around with the VSCO filters (I ended up using Chromatic, in case you're interested).
There's sometimes a long break between my photo shoots; I often feel like my photos are just not good enough, and don't end up posting them here. But if we never take risks, we never improve. This post is my risk for now.
