Too Faced White Chocolate Chip Palette

Too Faced White Chocolate Chip Palette

The other day, I was browsing Sephora when I came across the Too Faced White Chocolate Chip Palette. I've never tried any Too Faced products before, and I usually read online reviews before buying new makeup, but the packaging was so pretty, and the tester smelled so good I couldn't resist.

According to the packaging, this palette contains "11 cocoa powder-infused, buttery shades in pastels, creamy nudes and a pop of black - all with our signature chocolate scent."
When I opened it, I was immediately a little worried about the amount of product, which somehow seemed like more in the store. I paid $36 CAD for this palette, and the pans are a bit shallow for my liking. Still, this is a travel-sized palette, so I wasn't expecting a huge amount.

The real trouble started when I applied the shadows, and realized the shades are very sheer. The pinks and beiges - which make up most of the palette - were practically invisible. I applied Cake Batter, Raspberry Rose and Guilt-free to my eyes, and my sister said she couldn't tell I was wearing shadow at all. In the swatches below, I went over the color three times, but really ended up with more of a tinted shimmer than an actual color.

If you build on the shadows over and over again, you do start to see a bit of shimmer, but with the small amount of product in this palette, I imagine it would run out fairly quickly. These shadows also have a lot of fallout during application, which can be annoying with the glittery shades.

I really wanted to like this palette, but I guess I'll have to admit defeat and exchange it for a different one. As I said, I haven't tried the other Two Faced palettes, but I wouldn't recommend this particular one. Considering the cost, it's not a very good value; I think that money would be better spent going towards a product of a bit higher quality, even if you have to shell out a little more initially.

Have you tried this palette? What were your impressions?
